Ghost Walk
Twenty years...it can seem like an eternity. Or it can be gone in the blink of an eye. For the California Riverside Ballet, 20 years has led to a signature downtown Halloween event that families have come to love and expect. The event, although originating in the South, was brought to the City of Riverside in 1991 by community leader Kathy Allevie and has since become an annual tradition for the surrounding community.
With the collaboration of many artists and arts groups, Ghost Walk has become a true representation of our City, with stories written by Riverside authors and often based on Riverside folklore. The event began with just a handful of locations. Over the course of 20 years, the list has grown to include the such notable historic locations as the Mission Inn, Life Arts Center, Riverside Art Museum and First Congregational church. This event began and has remained a walking tour highlighting the history and folklore of downtown Riverside.
Ghost Walk now brings in over 4,000 guests to the downtown area for two nights of family friendly celebration. Additional entertainment includes a stage featuring live music and dance groups such as Ballet Folklorico de Riverside and a Halloween Dance Production choreographed by UCR professor Brandon J.
Funds raised through this event help support the California Riverside Ballet and is also a great opportunity for a wide range of artists and arts organizations to collaboratively showcase their unique talents.
